Before We Wake Signing

We were super lucky to host local author and artist Sophia Glock for a signing at Big Planet Comics of U Street, coinciding with the debut of her newest graphic novel, Before We Wake!! I read both that and her first graphic novel, Passport last month, so you can check out more about those books on my February 2026 Reads post!

Sophia was so chill and funny, and just an easy presence to be around — easy to talk to, easy to work with. After setting up, and fighting against an older model laptop a bit, Sophia did a reading from the book for us, answered some questions, and gave us background on her inspirations and thoughts. The way she used experiences from her teen years, and especially from her mom (who sounds like a very interesting and dreamy character) was really fascinating to learn about.
